Maybe things aren’t so bad

Tonight was interesting - and a bit unexpected. In a good way, though.
I spent a good part of the night being torn limb from limb by mobs of trolls in the hot, sticky beast of a jungle called Stranglethorn. After I had sufficiently pushed my limits and worn myself to the point of exhaustion, I met up with Ysabelle.
We went to a little spot I had discovered earlier in the night – a cliff overlooking a pair of waterfalls. The view was amazing and, having put a safe distance between us and the appetites of the predators lurking on the forest floor, we were able to kick back and relax. The cool breeze was a welcome change from the stagnant blanket of torridity that the jungle is known for. Had Ysabelle been able to stay there through the night, I feel I may have been able to sleep peacefully for the first time in a long time.
We spent a good deal of time talking, but before long she did have to leave. Before she left, she gave me a kiss that rekindled that bit of hope I thought had just about died. Things may not turn out quite the way I wanted them to, but at least now I know how she feels. Perhaps that will be enough.
